This is one of those tunes that I've always liked on a basic level, and yet when I hear it, the context is often one in which the tune is being repeated perhaps a hundred times too many. Maybe that impression arises for me because the tune itself is highly repetitive, consisting of three statements of the same phrase with small variation in the third statement. My aim in this arrangement was to keep the drive going with some two-against-three cross-rhythms, and a modulation to a closely related key in the middle of three iterations of the entire tune -- three feels to me like a good number.
